Laurie Menzies' own running days are over, but he still encourages people to enter the annual Terry Fox Runs across Canada. Mr. Menzies played a crucial role in the Cross-Canada Marathon of Hope in 1980. He and his son Allan repaired Mr. Fox's spare artificial legs from the time he set out from St. John's, Nfld., on April 12, 1980, until he crossed the Quebec border. |

When Fredericton High School graduate Laura Cain was called to the Aitken University Centre stage at last night's graduation ceremony, she had butterflies in her stomach. She wished she could have walked across the stage. Instead, Cain received her diploma in a wheelchair. But that couldn't dampen the new graduate's spirits, because Cain is a survivor. She has been since birth. |

New Brunswickers are helping land-mine victims in Nicaragua. Rachel Larivée is co-ordinating an effort to collect used artificial limbs, crutches, wheelchairs and related medical supplies to forward to the Central American country. |
